This rare work by Peter Beard steems from a private collection and bears a number of features that underline its importance and uniqueness in equal measure.
It is a silver gelatin print that Beard added ink, real blood and even snakeskin to during the creative process. On the lower left side of the work, Beard recites a text by Karen Blixen from her book "Out of Africa," 1937 - a recurring theme echoed in Beard's own publication "The End of the Game," 1965, from which this artwork is heavily inspired.
The work has been titled, dated and extensively annotated in black ink on both the front and back.
The original frame of the artist has been preserved.
