Arndt Voigt was born in 1924, as the first son of Isolde Voigt and grew up in Dresden. His enthusiasm for photography developed at a young age, fueled by his mother's passion for the new medium and the modern cameras and films of the time. In the early 1950s, Arndt Voigt began a series of professional photos that were published in the "Sylt Illustrierte". Later, he traveled as a photographer for the "Jagd & Hund" project to various countries and captured his impressions in pictures. Although his photos were already framed and displayed on walls at that time, there was never an exhibition or artistic recognition.
Photography never had a commercial background for Arndt Voigt. Instead, he worked in the family business and pursued his passion for photography in his free time. After his death in 1988, he left behind a large archive of unpublished photos that showed his dedication and talent for the art of photography.
