The ARTISTS in RESIDENCE program expands the existing gallery program, offering a particularly direct and authentic form of art presentation. Under this new artist-in-residence concept, contemporary painters, photographers, and sculptors live and work on-site on a rotating basis, presenting their work in direct dialogue with interested visitors and thus providing a rare glimpse into their creative processes, backgrounds, and personal motivations.
The WERKHALLEN GALERIE KAMPEN, under the ownership of Christiane Obermann, is expanding its existing gallery program with a particularly direct and authentic form of art presentation. Just 100 meters from the current WERKHALLEN gallery, a listed Frisian house is being transformed into a special venue for contemporary art. Within the framework of an artist-in-residence concept, contemporary painters, photographers, and sculptors live and work on-site on a rotating basis, presenting their work in direct dialogue with interested visitors. This provides a rare insight into the creative processes, backgrounds, and personal motivations of the artists.
Alongside the delicate paper works of artist Aja von Löper, steel and glass sculptures by Thomas Röthel and Till Augustin will be on display, as well as the latest works created specifically for Sylt by resin artist Daniel Hellermann. The exhibition opens on April 5th, coinciding with the season.
Sculptor Thomas Röthel, a long-time artist associated with the gallery, will kick things off as Artist in Residence. He has also been present on the island for the past two years with his sculpture trail around the Severins Resort and Spa Hotel.
THOMAS RÖTHEL will be present at the new ARTISTS in RESIDENCE gallery from April 1st to April 12th, from 1 pm to 6 pm each day, and will be available for discussion.
In addition to the artist program at the other gallery of the same name, we will be exhibiting some of their artworks here at SEVERINS and invite our guests to meet some of the artists in person at the gallery.
